Song Breakdown: Step on out Mama

Believe it or not, this was Tyy's idea. He came in late one night, right, like, "Bruh... Bruh...Bruh... Bucky and me snuck in this club, right... he knew some like retro b----es that was like, 'Oh come blaze with us. We gon' be up at the spot', right? BRUH.... BRUH... YO, my dude.... swing. We gotta do some swing, yo. It's the business yo. Real talk. Shit was.... bananas...." Slikk looks over with this kinda puzzled but holding in laughter look, almost like, "You didn't know that?!" So, we were like, coolio, let's do it. Slikk came in with a bassline and he got down on the beat. I had a few lines that i like throwing around, and i rane' down, they said 'YES. DO THAT!' and it turned into this fun fun swing-a-ding thing. It's funny, tho, to hear Tyy, a little hip hop head all seriously adamant about doing some swing music. I diggs it tho. He'll surprise you now and then with some off the wall stuff that makes you have to push.... maybe try a new style you were thinking of but weren't sure anybody else would really be down for, at least not right then anyways. This crew's pretty down for whatever when it comes to doing music. That is the mission, kinda. To see how all music effects all people, bringing folks together, getting people to dig on new positive vibes... and just chill... kick it, dig me?

So, yeah man, this turned out to be a really fun kinda upbeat zooty-swing dance jam. It was made to be that. It ended up that. Mission accomplished. Songs go wherever they wanna go, ya know? Like, you'll start out with a few pieces, right, and by the time everyone's done throwing their chunk into the pot, the soup brews into this thing that a whoooole new sound because one sound influenced another, which triggered another, which boosted the first ones, which made this other part come in... pretty organic. Music should always be fun like that.

Sad music is hard to do. Says me, and who am I, right? But still.... I mean, i see the point of it, sad music, because everything's got a point... everything is something to do, dig? Horrible thing to spend your money on. Music is like a teleportation device,or a times machine. You want good times? Crank it. You want bad times? It's got that too. So many thoughts, emotions, and actions come about because of music. If not immediately, it's at least planted a seed in the mind which is like the brain for the soul, so... wherever your vision is is what you're gonna see and know. that's your focus, dig me? But maannn.... i ain't really down with bringing people down, especially with music. I been down in the dumps before, a few times. Misery loves company, but don't let it be you, baby. Like Byrdo's pops said one time he was telling me, he says, "Somebody's gotta go to hell. Don't let it be you is all." So, we push for the light in music. Sometimes the message is rough. Sometimes the delivery is a heck of a thing, ya know? But, if it gets one person thru some stuff? If it gets you to a better space to build, or even to just let the dust settle without getting choked to death in the process? COOL. Mission accomplished. Bonus if you learn something. Level up if you grow. Share it or your newly leveled up way of being because of the song, and uplift someone else?! Maaaannn, you just defeated the big boss level.

Sometimes you're just trying new sounds you never did before and wanna see what it's like to do them. That's most of living life tho... trying things because you never did it, and seeing what understanding you get from it, and what kinda vibe and groove comes about.

The picture is actually me going down an alley i go down for reasons explained in another presentation of this picture in the photos of our daily life and adventures. The whole story is in the blog here somewheres, but it' is SO NOT ABOUT DANCING.. hahahahahahaa. Aaaah man, something about a murdered kid trapped between worlds so i was bringin 'em flowers to help 'em get to the light but ANYWAYS... moving on...

The words, tho... I was getting into that. Man, this one is just fun fun fun till her daddy chases Byrdo away, man. It was fun writing it. I like being clever with words. Slikk was like, "Make it a little more international, more easy or basic to get into the groove." so i tried a few things. It's got a swaggah to it that i just dig. It's just fun. I dunno, it's just something about when you really enjoy what you do you get good at it. Ya know? Like get into the zone. Now, i ain't braaaaggin or nothing, but maaaaan, thems is some smooth words in this joint! Really tho, listen to it.. they're down there. I'll bet somebody's gonna be saying that to somebody somewhere now that it's out there. It's got a big shout out to Philly as well. Had to throw the romping stomping grounds in there, dig me? Much love AND APPRECIATION to the home-team. Now, writing is one thing, but maaaaan, then i gotta "sing" 'em, and THAT PART??? Sometimes i 'll look over at Charlie like, "Any day now toots. Just jump on in here and pick up this mic." I've heard her sing before. She sounds pretty good. Until then.. there's this clown...
